Jay Pension grew up just north of Boston in Lynn, MA. Over the past 10 years Jay has worked as a director or producer on over 100 productions in Boston and NYC.
From 2010 - 2017 Jay worked for Boston Children’s Theatre as a Director and Producer for certain productions on the mainstage and as the instructor for Intermediate and Advanced Acting in the Education Program. In 2014 Jay became the first Artistic Director of Stage 284 in Hamilton, MA and remained in the position until 2017.
Favorite projects include: Simon Says, Off-Broadway, starring Brian Murray, Directed by Myriam Cyr, (Producer) Nottingham (Director/Playwright), Stilskin (Director/Playwright), Boston Children's Theatre's annual production of The Velveteen Rabbit, 2010-2016 (Director.) James and the Giant Peach, Boston Children’s Theatre at the BCA (Director), Left & Right (creator/producer) NYC run and NE tour (Winner; Best Show New England Fringe Festival), and Arsenic and Old Lace both at the Hogan Center and Stage 284.
Additionally, Jay serves as Director of Summer Theatre for Island Theatre Workshop, Martha's Vineyard, and as Artistic Director for Stage 284 in Hamilton, MA.
He holds a BFA in Theatre Performance from Salem State University and is currently pursuing an MFA at Florida State University.
